Eight households who have either their children or grandchildren attending ACTS school had their houses burned.
Here’s what’s happening.
- There is open conflict not only at night but during the daylight hours.
- Parents and children are terrified due to the shooting.
- ACTS WOJA School has 205 active attendees, 154 from the Mareko tribe and 51 from the Meskan tribe.
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SAFETY OF THE FAMILIES AND CHILDREN AND THAT THE UNREST WILL COME QUICKLY TO A PEACEFUL RESOLUTION.
ACTS is trying to raise resources to aid the displaced families starting with those in the WOJA community.
Families have lost their homes due to the fighting between two tribes, the Mareko and the Meskan. The conflict is primarily due to some villages which are predominately Mareko in population being run by members of the Meskan tribe and job opportunities are not being shared with the Mareko. The displaced families have now had to leave and move to another town, Inseno. They were hidden and moved in the dark of night as their lives had been threatened. The total of the displaced is 3138. Out of these 217 had their houses burned, 22 died, 50 had personal property stolen, and 65 were severely injured.
